Management Profile
Second Avenue is promoted by three management and technology career professionals: Rajan Narayanan, B Jaishankar and S Ramesh. Their association goes back three decades with all three graduating from REC, Trichy (now NIT), though in different disciplines.
They got back together again with the shared objective of setting up an advisory and consulting company to encourage, mentor and nurture small and medium-sized companies, start-ups and first-generation entrepreneurs to scale their business to the next level.
Rajan, Jaishankar and Ramesh have held senior management positions with top-tier companies in India and overseas. Together, they bring a unique blend of management, marketing, operations and technology expertise to bear in creating Second Avenue as an organization committed to building continuity, forging enduring relationships and delivering value to its clients.
Rajan Narayanan

Rajan brings rich insights and entrepreneurial flair to a global IT career spanning three decades.
Till recently as Senior Vice President at MindTree Ltd., he led the industry verticals of Retail, Media & Entertainment, Publishing Research & Information Services, Government, and Construction & Realty. Prior to this he was responsible for IBM technologies group, ERP group and the global relationship with IBM. He is on the board of the COMMON Americas Advisory Council.
Before joining MindTree in 2005, he was a founder-promoter of a software company in Bangalore, India, providing AS/400-related specialist services. As the COO and Vice Chairman, he was responsible for strategizing, lending technology direction to the company, deliveries and pre-sales activities. Prior to this, Rajan was the CEO of a Chennai-based 100% EOU IT services company where he handled offshore projects as early as 1983.

He is widely travelled and has vast exposure in working with and supporting customers in varied industry segments in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific.
B Jaishankar

Jaishankar, or Jai as he is known, has vast exposure to Manufacturing, Industrial Services, Management Consulting and Information Technology from a career spanning nearly three decades.
Till recently Jai was Vice President at Ramco Systems and Director of the 100%-owned South African subsidiary where he conceptualized and led the execution of a unique co-creation engagement to build a local government solution. Setting up partnership with an IT incubation center largely influenced his decision to focus more on emerging organizations. His prior assignments in Ramco included setting up the Solution Center for Manufacturing and Asset Management and heading the global product management function.
He cut his teeth on consulting during the decade-long association with Hofincons Group where he led the consulting division and went on to head business development, marketing and sales functions of Industrial Services, Consulting and IT divisions of the Group.

The opportunity to build software products came by when he set up Hofinsoft, IT arm of Hofincons. Under Jai's stewardship, Hofinsoft built a best-in-class Enterprise Asset Management application suite and penetrated markets in the Americas and ASEAN, in addition to consolidating premium position in its core markets of India and Middle East.
Jai invests considerable amount of time in mentoring entrepreneurs and start-ups on not-for-profit basis.
S Ramesh

Ramesh brings over 27 years professional experience in marketing and management positions in premier computer companies in India and abroad. A post-graduate in Management from Xavier Labor Relations Institute (XLRI), Ramesh was the Head of Operations in Singapore for Far-East Computers (now part of HCL Technologies) for over 5 years before he started his own consulting firm in 1997.
He was earlier heading national marketing at Digital India for over four years. Ramesh is a domain expert in Banking, Workflow Automation, CRM and BPO, and has worked with several large and medium software organizations both in India and abroad in areas of business development consulting, large account management, business planning and setting up of new operations.
He is a trained Executive Coach for senior executives and is also a visiting faculty at IIM-Bangalore. He has conducted several workshops for leading software companies in India and has trained over 5000 professionals in senior and middle management positions.
